NON-INTENSIVE SEMESTRAL COURSES „MY POLISH” - IN-CLASS and ONLINE

NON-INTENSIVE SEMESTER COURSES IN POLISH - second semester 2023/2024

We would like to invite you to no-intensive semester course of the Polish language organized by School of Polish Language and Culture at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków within the program called "My Polish" second semester 2023/2024.

 
Course description: It is a general course. Participants develop and practice all the language skills, i.e., speaking, reading, listening, and writing. They also acquire and master grammar and new vocabulary. The course program is always adapted to the needs of the participants and their language level which is determined on the basis of placement test. Classes are in small groups and are held by qualified teachers who are graduates of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. 
 
Dates: February 26th – June 24th, 2024 / Application deadline: February 9th, 2024 / Payment deadline: February 16th, 2024
 
The price of one semester: PLN 1.700.
 
To enroll in the course, you are asked to: 
  1. Read the course information on the School’s website.
  2. Fill in an online Application Form and give relevant consents in the attached documents: Information of the processing of your personal data, Course Regulation ‘My Polish’ and Consent to the sending information. Then, School sends you back a completed Application Form in PDF format. You are asked to print it out, sign and send back as a scan to the following e-mail address: plschool@uj.edu.pl 
  3. Complete an online placement test available on the Open UJ platform – if applicable. When School receives your Application Form, the further information about the placement test (link to the platform) will be sent to you. 
  4. Make a payment for a course. 

Confirmation of acceptance and any further information will be sent to you by e-mail.

Number of hours: Course consists of 60 academic hours of Polish (1 academic hour = 45 minutes)
 
Classes: 90 minutes/twice a week, afternoon hours, after 5p.m. Polish time on business days. 
 
Class schedule: will be agreed upon by the students and the teacher during the first class.
 
A minimum number of participants: In order for us to open a course, a minimum of 5 participants must be enrolled in a group at a given language level. 
 
Form of classes:  in-class and online. 
Participants of the in-class course must be at least 18 years of age on the day the program commences.
 
Place of in-class course: School of Polish Language and Culture, Romana Ingardena 3 str., 30-060 Krakow.
 
Methods of payment: 
  • bank transfer, 
  • by card directly at the School's Accounting Office (3 Romana Ingardena str., 30-060 Kraków, room no. 139)
  • or authorize the School to bill your credit/debit card by filling in the authorization form sent at the enrolment stage.  
School does not accept payment in cash.
Please remember that all bank charges should be covered by the participant. 
Lack of payment will result in removing a participant from the list.
 
Placement test: online on the Open UJ platform. The aim of the placement test is to determine your actual level of Polish language and based on that assigning you to the proper group. Test must be done without any assistance.
Link to the test is sent at the enrollment stage, in the e-mail acceptance of the Application Form. Test is completed only by people who have already been learning Polish. Those who rated, in the Application Form, their knowledge of Polish as “none (A1)” do not receive a link to the test. 
 
ECTS Points, Diplomas and Certificate of Participation:
The Language Certificate and 4 ECTS can be obtained by a person who:
  • has 80% attendance (lectors check the attendance and accurately sum it at the end of each semester) (20% of the final grade)
  • actively participated in classes (30% of the final grade)
  • received a positive result from the final exam (50% of the final grade)
In other situations, students can only receive a Certificate of Participation in the Course.
The Language Certificate and Certificate of Participation are sent to the participants by the School Office via e-mail after the end of the course.
