On Friday before the holiday break, everyone at the Centre was already getting ready for Christmas. Our teachers organised a special workshop, during which students made chains and baubles to decorate our very own Christmas tree, learned how to say “Merry Christmas” in languages other than Polish, and discovered different Christmas traditions in other countries.
At a special culinary stand, they could also decorate gingerbread cookies and prepare kutia, or a ceremonial grain dish with sweet gravy. When everything was ready, we sang Christmas carols and exchanged New Year's greetings breaking opłatek, or the Christmas wafer in our group of Polish and foreign students, staff, and associates of the Centre.
