PROGRAM ORGANIZATION

INAUGURATION*: July 1st, 2024 (Monday), 11:00-12:30, Aula Collegium Novum – 24 Gołębia Street, 31-007 Krakow.

Inauguration lecture in English: Wisława Szymborska, or philosophy without footnotes will be delivered by Dr. Hab. Michał Rusinek.

CLOSING DATE**: August 10th, 2024 (Saturday), 18:00 - graduation gala dinner.

*The program inauguration applies to participants starting courses on July 1st, 2024 (A-2, A-3, A-4, A-5, A-6).
**The graduation dinner applies to participants completing their courses on August 10th, 2024 (A-6, B-4, C-3, D-2).

 

  • According to the Polish system of education, 1 academic hour equals 45 minutes.
  • Class times are given in Polish time.
  • Location of Polish language classes and lectures: 3 Romana Ingardena street, 30-060 Krakow

 

POLISH LANGUAGE CLASSES and FINAL EXAMS:

  • Polish language classes are held in the morning from Monday to Friday (Monday – Thursday at 8:45-12:00 a.m. / Friday at 8:15-11:15 a.m.)
  • The Final Exam takes place on Friday afternoon and consist of two parts: written part: 1:00-2:30 p.m. and oral part: 2:30-3:30 p.m.

LECTURES and FINAL EXAMS:

  • Lectures are held in the afternoon, from Monday to Thursday in two time blocks: 2:00-3:50 p.m. and 4:00-5:50 p.m.
  • The Final Exam takes place on Friday afternoon in two time blocks: 3:30-5:00 p.m. and 5:05-6:35 p.m.

Final Polish language and lecture exams and all other tests/exams are carried out within the given number of hours in a given program.

The School of Polish Language and Culture uses the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) system applicable in the countries of the European Union.

According to the conversion rate adopted by the School: 1 ECTS = 10 academic hours 

Before arriving at the Summer School, the participant should agree on the terms of transfer of points with his/her university (Registrar's Office) – if applicable.

The following conversion of ECTS applies for the 2024 Summer School program:

  • LANGUAGE CLASSES ENDING WITH AN EXAM:

40 hours of language class = 4 ECTS
60 hours of language class = 6 ECTS
80 hours of language class = 8 ECTS
100 hours of language class = 10 ECTS
120 hours of language class = 12 ECTS

  • LECTURES ENDING WITH AN EXAM:

10 hours of lecture = 1 ECTS
20 hours of lecture = 2 ECTS

At the end of the course, the School may issue the following documents to the participant:

  • Certificate Of Attendance - issued to each participant on the last day of classes.
  • Language Certificate - issued to a participant who passed the final language exam.
  • Transcript of Studies - issued at the participant's request. The Transcript of Studies will list the subjects in which the participant passed the final exam and met additional requirements set by the teacher. The Polish language grade may also be shown on the Transcript of Studies.

The following information is provided on the Language Certificate and Transcript of Studies: name of the subject, language level - if applicable, final grade, number of ECTS, number of hours.
The Language Certificate and Transcript of Studies will be sent after the program completion by post to the correspondence address indicated in the Application Form.

IMPORTANT:

  • The school may send the Transcript of Studies directly to the address of the University (instead of to the private address) where the participant studies. The Language Certificate will also be attached to the Transcript of Studies - if applicable.
  • Information about the preferred address for sending documents should be provided in the Application Form.
  • Please note that the School can only send documents to one place. It is not possible to send documents to both a private address and the University address.
